Myanmar urges donations

The websites of Myanmar embassies in different countries on Sunday have published a post titled 'Make a Donation' where the post read: 'Make a donation to give a helping hand in resolving the Rakhine State issue'

Myanmar has called on the international community to donate money for resettlement of Rohingyas and development of Rakhine state of the country.

The websites of Myanmar embassies in different countries on Sunday have published a post titled “Make a Donation” where the post read: “Make a donation to give a helping hand in resolving the Rakhine State issue.”

Information of two bank accounts were added to the post for giving donations. They are Myanmar Economic Bank (Account Number: EDU 600002) of Naypyidaw branch for United States of America currency USD money and another is Myanmar Economic Bank (Account Number: CF-003434) of Naypyidaw branch in terms of Myanmar currency Kyat.

Such a post was also seen on the website of Myanmar Embassy in Bangladesh by the Union Enterprise.

The Union Enterprise according to Myanmar embassy is a public-private union enterprise in Myanmar in which Myanmar's State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi acts as chairperson and Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and Union  Minister Dr Win Myat Aye acts as vice chairman.

It has three goals, which are providing humanitarian assistance, carrying out resettlement and rehabilitation and working for development in Rakhine State, said the website of the enterprise.

Nearly 700,000 Rohingyas have fled into Bangladesh after a military crackdown began in the Rakhine State of Myanmar on August 25 of last year; adding with 400,000 previously settled Rohingyas at Cox's Bazar region.

Meanwhile, Inter Sector Coordination Group (ISCG), called on the international community to come forward to assist the Rohingyas, it introduced a “Joint Response Plan” in March which targeted to collect USD 950.8 million by the end of this year.

The “Joint Response Plan”, in collaboration with Bangladesh government and international donors, has been implemented since March, for ensuring better assistance and safer camp conditions.

“Financial Tracking Service”, a global platform which is tracking humanitarian aid flows, said that only USD 320.3 million have been raised till September 2 while 66.3% of required funds are yet to be given.
