Interview with U Maung Maung Than on Burmese citizenship status scrutinizing process

(In Mray Bon township of Arkan, over 1000 Muslims have applied for the Burmese citizenship status. Local authorities are presently engaged with the scrutinizing process under the guidelines of 1982 Burmese Citizenship Act. People are expecting that all the applicants would be considered as Burmese Citizens. Narinjara News talked to U Maung Maung Than, director general  of Immigration Department, recently and the excerpts are here).
Q: How are you conducting the process of scrutinizing the Burmese Citizenship?
U Maung Maung Than: We have done the same as we had announced earlier. The working committee in township levels began the scrutinizing process and we are scrutinizing their application forms step by step.
Q: What is the progress you have achieved till now? 
U Maung Maung Than: We have just finished ten applicants. (note-only ten applicants were addressed under the scrutinizing process in the beginning, but now it is learnt that 325 applications are scrutinized so far)
Q- How much applications forms will be scrutinized? 
U Maung Maung Than: We will scrutinize all applications that would be over are 1090.
Q-What will you do to after the scrutinizing to those applicants? 
U Maung Maung Than: We will follow the guidelines under the law. The successfully scrutinized applicants will be offered Burmese citizenship by the central immigration department.
Q-Do you have plans to provide Identity Cards to those applicants?
U Maung Maung Than:  Yes, we will issue IC to them, who are eligible for citizenship status. That is why we are actually scrutinizing.
Q-When do you expect to implement the process? 
U Maung Maung Than: The scrutinizing process in some townships has already been completed. We will  hand over the outcome to the State scrutinizing committee. Finally those will be in the table of central immigration department for final decision and disposal.

Dacoits From Bandit Myanmar Army Fetch Fine Jades

Under the open tender system ,Myanmar had sold 973 polished and raw jade lots at
the 55th Myanmar Gems Emporium held in Nay Pyi Taw.
Myanmar fetched 38.53 million euro through the sale of 973 jade lots on its 5 day.
Four hundred Foreign and local jade merchants are attending to propose price in the
tender when they feel likeness on good jade lots.
All the jades sold in Myanmar are from Kachin state in which large troops of Myanmar
Army has been deployed to dacoit and loot. Under the deployment of dacoit Myanmar Army,majority burma or myanmar is setting jade mines across the Kachin State to monopolize jade business.
Dacoits from Bandit Myanmar Army also fetch fine jades and sell to foreign in black.
Local ethnic Kachin people are just to flee into nearby woods to hide from atrocious Myanmar Army which is commiting killing and raping Kachin ethnics  in the name of guarding people and nation from Armed groups.



To Regain National Status And Freedom From The Yoke Of Myanmar Colony

In so-called Myanmar,majority Burma is politically,economically and militarily bullying
minority ethnics nowadays.Moreover,Burma is exploiting every natural resources found
in Arakan National land and sea.Arakan was kingdown and the state of being a country
with freedom to govern itself.At present,it is being occupied and colonized by Burma or Myanmar.
To Arakan National,Burma has systematically plotted to degrade a status of one of ethnics comprising in the so-called Union of Myanmar.
However,New Generation of Arakan National refuses to accept ethnic term and does not
want to be in Union of Myanmar as a one of ethnics.
So,New Generation of Arakan National led by Arakan Army is carrying on to regain National
Status and freedom from the yoke of Myanmar colony.

City Elder Is Thrown Into Cell Of Jail

In MOA(Myanmar Occupied Arakan),western part of Myanmar, a city elder has been
arrested by Government of Myanmar over the allegation of supporting political leader
of Arakan,Dr.Aye Maung.
Dr.Aye Maung was also being thrown behind the bar by Aung san Suu Kyi and Myanmar
Army's chief,Min Aung Hlaing,over the baseless accusations of high treason six months
ago.
The city elder,Mr.Aung Than Wai,was detained by notorious Myanmar Police and Army
men on 21.6.2018,while traveling in the city - sittwe.
It has been learnt that city elder,Mr.Aung Than Wai,who posted on Facebook about the
Secretary of so-called Arakan Cabinet . " Where is Mrauk U's massacre culprit , Secretary
with lethal weapon? " that city elder posted on facebook. So, it was first case to him
charged by notorious Myanmar Government.
His second case is that when Arakanes political leader,Dr.Aye Maung,was produced before
the court, all the petitions were dismissed and ruled out by judge.Therefore,city elder ,Mr.Aung Than wai, asked the court " laws are just to be in the Book,who is above the laws?
Now,city elder is thrown into cell of jail in Sittwe by Myanmar Government and is being beaten badly.

According to UNHCR,one in every 113 people has been forced to flee their homes because of war and persecution in the world.
Today - 20.6.2018 - is the day when the world commemorates the strength,perseverance and courage of million of refugees.
Therefore,World Refugee day is being observed across the globe today.

Prisoners Of War Should Be Handed Over ICRC Soon

In the western Myanmar, near the border line with India,there was Liberated area of Arakan Army. Arakan Army had occupied those areas a few years ago.
Similarly, It is  strong hold in the hills for Arakan Army. Myanmar Army intrudes and attacks
occasionally there in Liberated Area to Arakan Army using artillery and attacking helicopters.
Arakan Army as well,fights against the intruder Myanmar Army for the freedom of Arakan
people capturing more than five Myanmar soldiers and various kind of firearms and
ammunitions. Two of five prisoners of war were already handed over International Committee of Red Cross by Arakan Army.
Remaining three prisoners of war are being in the custody of Arakan Army.To hand over
ICRC,according to Arakan Army,Leaders of Arakan Army are preparing and waiting for.

UNSG's Special Envoy Visits Bengali IDPs Camps In Arakan,Myanmar

UN Secretary General's special envoy Ms.Christine Schraner Burgener on Myanmar visited
Bengali IDP camps yesterday in Maungdaw,Arakan - western Myanmar. 
She was welcomed by State construction minister kyaw lin, state Security and Border affair Minister Phone tint.
Some local people said she is nice and beautiful lady.She observers all IDP
camps in Arakan.Some Bengali IDP camps were about to shut down before her visite there
in Arakan.
She is happy about the shutting down of Bengali IDP camps in Arakan.In Maung Daw,
she meets all communities and families which were targeted to kill by terrorist group.

Border Trade Topped But Profit Goes To Majority Burma

According to the report of Commerce Ministry, Myanmar-Bangladesh border trade topped
US$4.37 in the current financial year.
Myanmar exported locally produced commodities - fish,saltwater prawns,bamboos,wood,
ginger,garlic,onion,rice,tobacco - amounting to $4.35 million to Bangladesh and imported
just $0.02 million worth of goods.
Border exports from Myanmar to Bangladesh are usually greater than its imports but all
 profits and benefits of these  always go to only  majority Burma who rules and colonizes Arakan -  western part of Myanmar ,border to Bangladesh.

UN, WB chiefs likely to visit Rohingya camps in Bangladesh




Apart from visiting the refugee camps, they will hold meetings with Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina and Finance Minister AMA Muhith, the government's Economic
Relations Division(ERD) sources said.
“A visit to Bangladesh by World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim is currently
under consideration. Details on the visit will be shared when they become available,”
said Qimiao Fan, World Bank country director for Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.
The World Bank may provide Bangladesh with a grant worth around $200 million to
help tackle the ongoing Rohingya crisis, the sources said.
Some 700,000 Rohingya minorities crossed the border from Myanmar's Rakhine state
since August last year, and are now living in cramped camps at Cox's Bazar.
