Two Indian Navy ships and one aircraft have arrived in Chattogram to take part in coordinated patrol or CORPAT to be conducted between the two navies.
The first-ever CORPAT will be jointly inaugurated by chiefs of Indian and Bangladeshi navy on June 27, the High Commission of India in Dhaka said.
Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Indian Naval Staff, is currently visiting Bangladesh on an invitation from the Chief of Bangladesh Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed. They met on Monday.
Admiral Lanba earlier visited Bangladesh in November 2017 to attend the 'IONS Multilateral Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise' (IMMSAREX), organised by the Bangladesh Navy under aegis of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium.
