Buddha statues are being vandalized in Arakan

In ancient city of Mrauk Oo ,the lost Arakan to Myanmar , there was Buddhist
temple named Lemyethna. This temple was built by Arakan(Rakhine)King
Min Saw Mon after he founded Mrauk Oo in AD 1430.
On 18.10.2018, an act of vandalism to Buddha statues of Lemyethna temple,

committed by a Myanmar Army Officers –backed anti-social group, surprised and
pained all Arakanese people.
According to local youths, vandals held meeting in early evening near the temple.
After meeting, they drank alcohol and went intoxication and then sound of noise
were heard. Local youths believe  this vandalism to Buddha statues was handiwork
of a Myanmar Army Officers –backed anti-social group.
One of Arakanese youths posted status and photos on facebook , on 19.10.2018, that
disclosed how vandals were discussing and left beer cans , bottles and some piece of

paper ,on which they had written letters in Myanmar and English for an unknown plan.
At the same time, fire broke out at Muslim refugee camp in sittwe, capital of the lost Arakan
to Myanmar. Most people doubted  this  coincidence. Until now, no arrest is made
and no so-called Myanmar government news media broadcasts and telecasts about the vandalism
to Buddha statues.
